The Game is a American comedy-drama television series created by Mara Brock Akil and produced by Kesley Grammer. The series premiered on October 1, 2006 on The CW. The series is a spin-off of the series, Girlfriends. After three seasons, the series was cancelled by The CW in May 2009, but was revived by BET. The series returned with a fourth season which premiered on BET on January 11, 2011. The series was renewed and revamped for the sixth season with two new lead characters, portrayed by Lauren London and Jay Ellis. In April 2013, the series was renewed for a seventh season, which premiered on March 4, 2014. The series was renewed for a eighth season in April 2014.


Premise

A medical student, Melanie Barnett-Davis had given up her offer for a admission to John Hopkins University for her boyfriend (later husband), Derwin Davis. As she settles to her new life, Melanie meets Tasha Mack, the mother of San Diego Sabers quarterback, Malik Wright and Kelly Pitts the wife (later ex-wife) of Sabers' captain, Jason Pitts. In season 6, Melanie is doing her residency in Baltimore and Derwin is also traded to the Baltimore for exchange for football player, Bryce, Jason is now married to Chardonnay, Tasha is confronted by Rick about their relationship, and a former child star, Keira is trying to find success since she is now an adult actress.
